- Formative assessment questions are designed to help students learn.
- For "Check Answer" questions, students get immediate feedback that is designed to help guide them to a better understanding of the material.
- "Record Prediction" questions encourage students to think critically about topics and systems.
- Students can keep answering until they get the correct answer.
- The SimUText System defaults to 0 points for the Feedback Question portion of the assignmnet, but the points can be adjusted on the Assignment page.

- Summative assessment questions are designed to judge how well the students learned the material.
- Students do not receive feedback on their responses when they answer the question.
- The SimUText System defaults to 10 points for the Graded Questions portion of the assignment, but the points can be adjusted on the Assignments page.

Additionally, "Question your Instructor" open-response items are found at the end of each SimBio Interactive Chapter in SimUText Ecology. Student responses to these questions can provide you with insight into areas with which your students may be having difficulty. The SimUText system excludes these questions from Feedback and Graded Question counts and scores.
